  • Declaring For A Series Championship: Drivers competing in the RCRL Cup or Truck Series must elect a single series for which they will receive championship points. Drivers are allowed to race in both series as much as they wish (provided they are eligible) and contend for wins but they are only eligible to receive points to go towards the championship in one series. This is an effort to keep competition more balanced and allow more drivers to contend for championships. This declaration should be made to the admin when signing up for a series and can only be changed between seasons. A driver can't change their mind as to which series they want to receive championship points for once a season has begun. Note: this only applies to our Cup and Truck Series.

  • RCRL APD Cup Series: Races held on Sunday nights @ 9pm ET. Server will be opened at 8pm for a Happy Hour practice session. Qualifying starts at 9pm followed by the race. Each season is 12 weeks long (unless otherwise indicated by the schedule) with each driver's 2 worst races dropped. See How To Join page for eligibility requirements and instructions on getting signed up for this series.

  • RCRL MADSPEED Truck Series: Races held on Thursday nights @ 9pm ET.

  • RCRL iRacing Super Speedway Series: Races held every other Tuesday night @ 9pm ET. Server will be opened at 8pm for a Happy Hour practice session. Qualifying starts at 9pm followed by the race. Each season is 24 weeks long (12 races bi-weekly) with each driver's 2 worst races dropped. The only eligibility requirement to participate in this series is that you also compete in either Cup or Trucks. This cannot be the only series you run in this league.

  • Respectful Behavior: RCRL drivers are expected to treat their fellow competitors with respect.  Disrespectful behavior during RCRL races or on the RCRL forum may be subject to penalization that may include points reduction, probation, suspension, or expulsion from the league. We also reserve the right to remove drivers who do things outside of the league forum or races that we feel reflect poorly on The RCRL.

  • Probations & Suspensions: Probations and suspensions issued to drivers as penalties for on-track or off-track behavior apply to all RCRL series. If a driver violates league rules while on probation, it will result in either magnified points penalties or suspensions depending on the violation.

  • Probationary Period: All drivers enter each series on a two race probationary period in which the admins have the ability to immediately remove you from the series if it's felt you do not uphold the smart/safe driving standards we want to uphold here in The RCRL. If we feel you cannot control the car, we will ask you to get more experience and come back at a later time.

  • Protests: Drivers may protest specific incidents for one of three reasons; (1) there has been a serious infraction of RCRL rules, (2) a specific driver behaves in an inappropriate or abusive manner during a race, or (3) a specific driver shows complete incompetence that ruins another driver's race. A protest of in-race action is to be submitted privately to a league admin along with any supporting evidence. The league administration will review the incident and, if necessary, impose penalties regarding the protest.

  • Car Numbers: Car numbers are picked by drivers when they follow the sign-up procedure to join a series. Once a driver picks a number, that's their number for all RCRL series they run. The official number assignments can be found here. If a driver is inactive for a month without notice to an admin, it will be assumed that driver has quit and his number can be vacated. Drivers are only allowed to change their number during the off-week between seasons. Number changes once a season has started are not permitted.

  • Paint Schemes: All members are encouraged to use the Trading Paints Desktop application to subscribe to the car of the series you run in so that you can view the custom paint schemes of other league members.

  • Race Lengths: Number of laps for each points race will be based on track length and can be found on the schedule for each series under "The Series" in the navigation bar above.

  • Points System: ***SEE CHART AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE***

  • Race Officials: During the race, RCRL Officials have the authority to black flag or disqualify drivers who act in a manner that is in violation of the rules (reckless driving, intentional wrecking, verbal misconduct, etc.).

  • Race Communications: Chat during green flag racing should be kept to a minimum and be limited to on-track intentions (such as pitting, allowing other driver to pass, etc.).  Chat during qualifying is NOT allowed. Chat during caution pace laps is encouraged but should be limited once the one-to-go signal is given. If drivers become abusive over the voice comms they may be subject to removal from the race and/or disciplinary actions postrace that may include points penalties, suspensions or expulsion from the league depending on the severity of the abuse.

  • Driver Preparation: Drivers are expected to be prepared for the track we race each week. This includes being able to drive a smooth high and low line at the track, being able to move cleanly and safely out of the way of faster traffic when being lapped, understanding pit entry/exit procedures and knowing pit road speeds.

  • Aggressive Driving Incidents: Drivers who cause an accident as a result of overly aggressive driving will be penalized 4 points and placed on a 2 week probation. Acts of aggressive driving include but are not limited to dive bombing someone going into corners and making high risk 3-wide moves. If you receive an aggressive driving penalty while racing in a series in which you don't receive championship points, you will be placed on a 2 week probation. If you have another aggressive driving incident in any series while on probation you will receive a 1 week suspension and will be ineligble to race in any RCRL series during that time period.

  • Avoidable Contact Incidents: Drivers who make contact which the admins deem to be avoidable will be penalized 2 points for the infraction. These types of incidents include but are not limited to running into the rear of someone getting into a corner or spinning another driver on pit road. If you receive an avoidable contact penalty while racing in a series in which you don't receive championship points, you will be placed on a 1 week probation. If you have another avoidable contact incident while racing in your championship series during this period, you will receive a magnified 4 point penalty for the infraction.

  • Reckless Driving: If you cannot control your vehicle, whether that be the result of damage sustained in a crash or just a bad setup, you are expected to safely get your vehicle to the pits to correct it. If it cannot be corrected you should retire from the event. If you bring a severly damaged race car back onto the track and ruin another driver's night as a result, you will face penalties. The admins reserve the right to remove a driver from a race if they feel they are a danger to the other drivers on the track.

  • Intentional Wrecking: Intentionally wrecking another driver is strictly prohibited. If necessary, file a protest with a league admin after the race. Never use retaliatory actions against a fellow driver during or after a race. Depending on the instance, intentionally taking out another driver may result in various actions including removal from the race, points penalty, suspension or removal from the league.

  • Yellow Line Rule: At super speedways, drivers are not to advance their position by going below the yellow line at any point on the track, at any time of the race. If a driver begins a pass and goes below the yellow line, they must immediately give the position back or risk being black flagged. If an admin is unable to view the incident at the time it occurs, it will be reviewed post-race. If determined to be a rule violation, the driver will receive a one lap penalty in the final race results.

  • Cautions: Full course cautions will be ON for all oval races. Road courses will be local cautions only.

  • Pace Laps: Drivers are to close it up quickly, but safely during a caution and maintain proper pacing speed.

  • Lucky Dogs: The LD is awarded to the first driver one or more laps down when a caution comes out, provided that driver was not a cause of the caution. If that driver was a cause of the caution, no LD will be awarded. When the yellow waves, the LD is immediately locked in so that driver making a pit stop under the caution does not affect them receiving the LD. Once the leaders begin making their pit stops under the caution, a waveby will be issued to the LD recepient. Those remaining on the track should stay low as the LD goes around the field on the high side.

  • Wave Arounds: Drivers not on the lead lap who stay out under caution while the leaders pit are eligible for the wave around to get a lap back. iRacing should give this wave around automatically. In the event that a driver on the lead lap stays out an extra lap in order to lead a lap and this causes those in position for the wave around to not be given a lap back, the admins will wave off the restart and manually give a wave around to all of those who were in position for one.

  • Restarts:
    • Double-file with lapped cars at the rear.
    • Leader has the option of inside or outside line and must make his intent known at the one-to-go.
    • Drivers are to keep the field closed up tight on restarts. Laying back is not allowed.
    • All drivers are to stay in their lane until crossing the start/finish line.

  • Black Flags: Black flags issued by the iRacing service may be cleared at the sole discretion of present admins. An admin will only clear a flag that is not the fault of the driver (example: entering pits out of position because a car on track hasn't closed up while pacing or passing a car before the line on a restart because they spun their tires and the driver trailing had to avoid a wreck). If a driver requests a black flag be cleared and it is determined after the race that the penalty was indeed the fault of the driver, that driver will not receive credit for the laps following the request to clear the flag.

  • Warping: If a driver is warping, the driver is expected to stay out of the preferred racing line or drop to the back of the pack until the connection clears up. If warping becomes excessive, an RCRL official may ask the driver to pit until his/her connection clears up. It is the responsibility of the warping driver to take appropriate action to avoid warp-related incidents. Be responsible and respectful of other drivers by getting out of the preferred racing line.

  • Pit Road (Entry & Exit): All drivers must enter and exit pit lane properly during all official RCRL practice and race sessions. Drivers are to use the proper method to merge onto the track during green flag pit stops. These procedures are different at each track and will be included in the drivers meeting message sent out each week. While driving down pit road, drivers are expected to stay in the far right lane until they are ready to turn into their pit box and to use the right lane when exiting their pits as well. No driving through pit boxes on entry or exit. Drivers are not allowed to speed past other drivers on pit road to get to their stalls quicker for repairs. These actions can cause a driver to miss his stall or cause a collision. Penalties will be issued to drivers who speed past others in the pits.

  • Stopping on Track: During a race session stopping on the track is prohibited. A driver should always pit properly before stopping, unless the driver's vehicle is disabled (in which case they should get a tow back to the pits) or is blocked on the track by wrecked vehicles. This is VERY important under green as a vehicle stopped on the track can bring out the yellow, even if parked safely out of the way. If a driver intentionally stops on-track during a race session, without good reason (like mentioned above), that driver will be heavily penalized.

  • Going Backwards on the Track: No driver should ever go in the opposite direction of the rest of the field for any reason during the race or practice. Those that do will be heavily penalized.

  • Disconnections: Laps will not be given back for disconnections during a race. If you are disconnected, attempt to reconnect and safely re-enter the race as if you have pitted.

  • Server Crashes: If the server crashes or if there is a mass-boot (more than 50% of drivers drop connection at once) then the following procedure will be used.  If fewer than half of race laps have been completed, the race will be restarted from the beginning.  If more than half of the laps have been completed, the race is over. In the latter case, if a results file can be salvaged, the results indicated by the file will be used as the final race results.  If no results file is available, the race is canceled and not used in standings scoring. In an instance where the server does not crash completely or there is not a mass boot but there are glitches in the iRacing service which are hampering the race session, the admins reserve the right to start a new session if the race is not past halfway. If the race is past halfway and glitches are hampering the race to the point where the integrity of the finish might be compromised, the admins may choose to call the event and use the current standings as the final results.
